Class One & Two Pilots
As a Class One or Two Pilot, you can independently pilot an overweight vehicle on New Zealand roads. Our pilot driving training helps you obtain the unit standards of:
1768: Pilot and overweight load and an over dimension load as a Class 2 certified pilot.
23892: Pilot an overweight load and an over dimension load as a Class 1 certified pilot.
To pilot an overweight vehicle on New Zealand roads, the operator needs to be aware of the stress their vehicle can place on bridges and other supporting structures. Our Christchurch based crane operator training in Bridge Engineering Self-Supervision, provides the crane operator or driver with the ability to self-supervise the journey of their vehicle over such structures. Our training includes the unit standard:
23436: demonstrate knowledge of the self-supervision requirements for overweight vehicles crossing bridges.
